“I found Dave at Kazbar to be the perfect person to work with to develop my initial studio idea into a reality. I already had some older equipment which I wanted to factor into my studio specification; Dave helped with designing a great solution for my new recording system to work seamlessly with my existing equipment, which also included a complete cabling design.
The room I wished to convert into a studio was highly challenging in respect of its layout – Kazbar designed the perfect acoustic solution which sounds great and looks wonderful too!

 I would highly recommend them.”

Kazbar Systems completes the equipment installation and acoustic upgrade of a private writing and production studio in Buckinghamshire.

The Client’s preferred space for the new recording studio was a first-floor open plan area with Mansard Roof, requiring an approach that solved the acoustic issues posed by the angles within the room. The area measures approximately 4m x 5m with a ceiling height of 3.5m and it has windows and doors on 3 of the walls.

The client required a complete upgrade of their existing recording system and an acoustic solution for their new home studio.

Acoustic Analysis and Treatment

Once the acoustic testing and analysis had been completed the bespoke acoustic treatments were designed and fabricated off site prior to being installed into to the studio.
The Client required a neutral colour scheme for the studio, choosing Camira Fabric’s “Lucia” for covering the acoustic treatments giving it a crisp and modern finish. The treatments are retained to the walls and ceiling using invisible fixings, with the installation completed in a day by the Kazbar installation team.

Recording System Equipment Specification and Setup

The new DAW system comprises of a Mac Pro, 2 x G-Drive external SSD hard drives, a Universal Audio Apollo 16 and Avid Pro Tools. Native Instruments Komplete, Arturia V-Collection, and Waves, Antares software instruments and processors. Focal Trio 6BE monitors serve as main monitors with a pair of Yamaha NS10 providing nearfield monitoring. An SPL 2301 monitor controller allows speakers election, foldback and talkback functionality. The entire DAW system was installed, authorised, preconfigured and tested at the Kazbar HQ prior to the onsite installation.

2 x Focusrite ISA 430Mk2 channels strips were installed, along with an Audient ASP880 to add additional mic and line channels. 2 x Warm Audio 1176 limiters provide dynamic control over recordings and at mixdown. A range of dynamic and condenser microphones were supplied from Shure, ElectroVoice, AKG C414 and Telefunken. A total of 3 x Signex 96-way CPT96 bantam patchbays were utilised to localise all audio I/O of the studio. Floor and wall boxes provide convenient connections for synthesizers and sound modules.
The large number of external MIDI devices required 3 x MOTU 128 Express MIDI interfaces and advanced AMS configuration. The Client also required a new performance stage piano so a Nord Stage 3 electric piano was supplied and installed.

Since the acoustic installation and equipment setup, Kazbar Systems have provided an introduction session for the new studio along with training and tutorials.
All aspects of the studio upgrade were completed diligently, efficiently and with minimal disruption to the Studio’s operation.
