Madness, hailing from Camden Town, North London formed in 1976 and went on to have 15 singles reach the UK top ten, including “One Step Beyond”, “Baggy Trousers” and “It Must Be Love”, one UK number-one single “House of Fun” and two number ones in Ireland, “House of Fun” and “Wings of a Dove”. “Our House” was their biggest US hit, reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2000, the band received the Ivor Novello Award from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors for Outstanding Song Collection.
As the band begin to record their next album, recording engineer Matt Glasbey contacted Kazbar Systems for assistance with the acoustics in the Studio.

In October 2022, Matt Glasbey was recommended to Kazbar Systems by the Brit Awards and Music Producers Guild award winning producer and long standing Client; Charlie Andrew, for help improving the acoustics and recording solution in large, open plan area the band have been using for writing and rehearsal.

“I chose Kazbar Systems to advise and install the acoustic treatment for a recent record, helping to turn a portion of a noisy, highly reverberant warehouse space into a workable area for drum and vocal tracking. Gavin and Dave were a pleasure to work with; their clear communication, attention to detail, and expertise made the process run smoothly, and I’m very happy with the resulting recordings.”

Acoustic Treatment Solution for Madness Live Studio

Dave Eccleston, Kazbar Systems Technical Manager, met with Matt to discuss how he planned to use the space to record the band and to gather all of the necessary information to provide a practical and holistic solution.
A number of acoustic screens were supplied to increase sonic separation between instruments and a range of bespoke, high and low frequency absorbers were fitted to the walls and ceiling to adequately control problematic sonic reflections. All of which were finished in acoustically neutral fabric from Camira Fabrics.

The solution developed by Dave Eccleston at Kazbar Systems delivered excellent sonic results and was delivered and installed quickly and efficiently.
