In July 2022, Rob Harris, Jamiroquai’s guitarist, contacted Kazbar Systems to provide an acoustic solution for his new private writing and recording studio in Cambridgeshire.

Rob Harris is a British musician; best known as the guitarist in the acid jazz band Jamiroquai, for which he was awarded 4 x Platinum Sales in Australia for Jamiroquai ‘A Funk Odyssey’ By Sony Music Columbia.

Rob has co-written and performed on the; Funk Odyssey, Dynamite, Rock Dust Light Star and Automation albums. Furthermore, his Session work includes credits such as: Lighthouse Family, Don Airey, Anastasia, JP Cooper, Era, Will Young, and many more.
When he is not writing, recording or touring, he teaches a guitar Master Class and is developing educational workshops worldwide.

Client Requirements

Having recently acquired the new studio, Rob was keen to create a space that was acoustically accurate, allowed easy access to his guitar collection and a space that was comfortable when used for longer writing sessions.
Dave Eccleston, Kazbar Systems Technical Manager, visited Rob’s studio to gather all of the necessary measurements and dimensions, and to discuss the look and feel of the new space.

Acoustic Solution

Once the acoustic calculations had been completed, Dave provided Rob with a proposal for the acoustic treatments that would be required to appropriately control the RT (reverb time) of the studio.

Kazbar Systems manufactured and installed a range of bespoke high and low frequency absorbers to the walls and ceiling, retained by invisible fixings to maintain a clean and minimalistic aesthetic, all of which were finished in an acoustically neutral fabric from Camira.

Kazbar Systems has had the pleasure of working with Rob over the years and has supplied many key elements of his studio including: Focal Twin 6 BE Active Speakers and Focal Sub 6 BE Sub Woofer, Universal Audio Apollo Audio Interface and general outboard including his API 6B Lunchbox Rack.
