Kazbar Systems has just upgraded the home studio and mobile recording setup for X-Factor & Britain’s Got Talent session vocalist Rita Campell. Rita required a system which would could easily be packed away when on location but setup quickly and efficiently when back home but offer excellent recording quality for her recordings too.
Rita’s previous setup was a Digidesign M-Box running Pro Tools LE. Seeing as Rita was upgrading her Laptop along with her iMac at the same time she decided it was time to invest in new recording hardware as well as upgrade her Pro Tools Software.
For her home studio Rita’s microphone of choice is a Neumann U87 (which was previously connected to her M-Box). Hearing great things about the Apogee Duet iOS from fellow recording artists and knowing that the Pro Tools software is no longer restrained to be used exclusively with Avid hardware (such as the M-Box), the Duet was her choice of audio interface due to it’s excellent AD-DA’s, Mic Pre’s and compact design.
Rita also required a microphone she could take out on the road, setup quickly with her MacBook Pro but still provide excellent sounding vocal recordings. Kazbar Systems loaned Rita an Apogee Mic 96K to test which she quickly decided was the perfect solution.
Rita purchased from us previously a pair of M-Audio BX5A active monitor speakers, since we originally sold her these speakers, Iso Acoustics have released their range of isolating speaker stands. We supplied Rita with a set of IsoAcoustics L8R155 to raise the speakers off her desktop, improve the bass performance of her speakers and improve the monitoring angle.
