Kazbar Systems has recently supplied Grammy award winning Basement Jaxx engineer Duncan F. Brown with a pair of HEDD Type 20 MKII active speakers.
“ A beautiful set of speakers to mix, work long hours on with little fatigue and maintain excellent translation to other listening environments. Compact in size, yet packing some real punch across the spectrum, they feel like a speaker much bigger than they actually are… a pleasure to listen to.
I need speakers that complement the varied projects I’m working on, from mixing Dance bangers, sound design for an Opera or editing music for a TV show, the Type20’s enable me an insightful listening perspective. They are honest enough to reveal when my mix isn’t quite there (flick to a reference track and remind yourself how good these things sound), yet fun and ‘creative’ enough to help get to that finished mix. I feel I can work quickly, transition my listening easily between being ‘inside the mix’ for detailed mix adjustments or zoom right out and enjoy the sound and vibration through the room.
The addition of the ported/ unported option on the front is really useful, along with the desk filter and attenuation controls at the rear have meant I’ve been able to tailor them perfectly to my listening environment. This level of versatility is what I expect from a speaker in 2021 and it will keep them relevant to me for many years to come…”
