Kazbar Systems have just provided the upgrade for hit songwriter and vocalist Rita Campbell and renowned Trombonist Alistair White. Both Rita (whose credits include Jools Holland, Paul Weller, X Factor, Stonebridge & Steps) & Alistair (whose performance credits include Paul Weller, Aretha Franklin, Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Van Morrison & Paul Carrack) required a solution which offered excellent sonic quality, solid performance and could work within both of Rita and Alistair’s recording environments Pro Tools & Logic Studio).
Rita & Alistair are both highly familiar with their preferred DAW but up until the upgrade, had their own computer and audio interface solutions. Central to the new studio is the Universal Audio Apollo Twin MKII Duo Thunberbolt Audio Interface chosen due to its excellent preamps, onboard UAD-2 DSP dynamics and effects and compatibility with the top speck iMac installed too.
The Apollo Twin MKII has two high quality, discreet preamps which has been setup for Rita’s preferred microphone of choice, the Neumann U87 and for recording his Trombone, Alistair uses the Coles 4038.
It was also time to upgrade their monitor speakers too, after both Alistair and Rita had worked on their own recordings and mixes, they both decided they were happy with the detail and sound performance of the Focal Alpha 50 Active Monitor Speakers.
