The DB7 was designed with a philosophy of “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts”. Surely then, by using the best components available we could create something very special. The result is a true reference monitor, featuring a highly linear frequency response and advanced phase correction algorithm for natural time coherency, delivering absolute clarity and lifelike stereo imaging. The DB7 is perfect for any audio work where a high level of accuracy is required, including Mixing, Mastering, Broadcast, Film, TV and any other application where an absolute reference is required.
Ceramic coated magnesium is a near perfect tweeter diaphragm material, damping unwanted resonances with an incredibly low moving mass of only 0.2 Grams. Powered by a 150W RMS amplifier gives an incredibly fast, highly accurate and well-controlled impulse. Transient response is further improved by properly time aligning the total system phase response, compensating for the drivers minimum phase characteristic, improving natural timbre, restoring time coherency and lowering listening fatigue.
The cabinet has been subjected to a meticulous study in Comsol multiphysics leading Finite Element Analysis software. A complex latticework of bracing has significantly reduced cabinet resonances, with front baffle vibrations being more than halved. The low-frequency driver is held rigid by significant bracing supports across four of its axes, stopping any twisting or rocking motion, revealing more subtle nuances and even more micro-dynamics. The cabinets are highly repeatable, cut to very fine tolerances with computerised numerical control machining. Finished in a beautiful veneered black oak.
The onboard DSP module offers a selection of 8 presets. Choose from critically flat or voiced, each with the option to enable or disable the FIR phase correction filter. Finally, for smaller rooms, you can also choose to apply the same presets with a small-room boundary correction, which counteracts the effects of local boundary reinforcements in the low frequencies.
The class-D T-Pro2 amplifier module offers unequalled audiophile specifications. Incredible power reserves and high damping factor ensuring fast, tight control of dynamics and bass transients. Configured to comply with ErP (1275/2008/EC) and Energy Star directives, using less than 0.5 watts in standby mode. Intelligent Standby Signal Processing in the DSP initiates standby mode when no signal has been detected for a period of 15 minutes, when activated the amplifier power consumption is typically reduced to 0.2 watts. The amplifier automatically exits standby mode as soon as a signal is redetected, typically waking up in 660 milliseconds without audible pops and clicks inherent in other designs.
Take your monitoring experience to completely new levels and get closer to the performance with the OS Acoustics DB7.
“The DB7s are the most accurate yet punchy speakers I have ever used and I’ve used a lot! These will be in the studio for many, many years”
Glen Nicholls– Audio Science Mastering. Future Funk Squad & Film Composer.Nine Inch Nails, Erasure, The Prodigy, Snow Patrol….
“What impressed me the most was the maturity of tone and consistent delivery over a range of material. We have used well known, high-end speaker brands but none had offered the same level of flexibility”
Tim Goldsmith – Bournemouth Arts University.
