Kazbar Systems was recently contacted by music producer, songwriter and award-winning technologist Manon Dave (designer of the ROLI Seaboard RISE and Native Instruments MASCHINE); to advise, supply and install a range of bespoke acoustic treatments into a new private recording studio.
The new studio area suffered from problematic acoustics due to the hard wall, ceiling and floor surfaces and a number of windows and doors.
After some initial testing and calculations, an acoustic upgrade proposal was formed by Dave Eccleston, Kazbar Systems Technical Manager, which was installed by the highly experienced Kazbar installations team.
Acoustic Solution
A range of bespoke acoustic treatments were manufactured to reduce the reverb time (RT) of the room to sub 0.4 seconds across the frequency range. The treatments included tuned LF absorber or bass traps and HF/MF absorber to the walls and ceiling. Wall treatments are retained by invisible fixings, with the ceiling absorbers hung from chains.
All of the acoustic treatments were wrapped in Camira fabric in the colour of the Client’s choice.
The existing floor surface was removed and a new hardwood floor from Havwoods was supplied and fitted by Kazbar, resulting in an elegant look and feel.
The project was completed on time and within budget and Manon has been very busy using the new recording studio to its full potential on a number of writing and production projects.
“Kazbar Systems came highly recommended by various colleagues and friends within the industry. I found the whole experience of working with Kazbar to be professional, from initial conceptual designs, to the installation and delivery.
Dave Eccleston was great to work with; from developing specifications, plans and renders of the fit-out, to finishes and aesthetics. Nothing was too much trouble and Dave clearly enjoys collaborating with Clients to ensure the very best outcome.”
